Here's looking at you!

We have been fortunate to have a family of screech owls make their nest in the hollow of one of our oak trees. Last year they had three little ones they raised. The natural camoflauge is amazing - don't you think?

Owls! They are so mysterious! I’ve never seen one here in Abruzzo, there are many around but I didn’t succeed in seeing one. They can hide themselves very good. Instead I find several little owls, they look a little bit different and smaller, but you know them for sure. And several bats!

We have millions of bats here, as the world's largest colony of Mexican Freetail bats is about 30 miles from where we live, in a town called Bracken. They are wonderful, as they keep the mosquito population way down!
